An essential item that belongs in every pier and surf angler's tackle box, Cox & Rawle Premium Elastic Bait Thread is available in three strengths and two colours (clear or red) to cover small, medium and large bait sizes.
Cox & Rawle Premium Bait Elastic is multi-strand so it's stronger than you’d expect for the diameter – this additional strength means that less elastic needs to be used to secure bait thereby improving presentation and hook-up rates when making baits for surf, pier and saltwater fishing.
Soft baits – fresh cut bait, shrimp, crab, worms, squid etc – are notoriously difficult to cast, especially if they’re not properly attached. Cast too hard and the bait will fly off the hook but don’t cast hard enough the bait won’t get close enough to where the fish are. Bait elastic is the answer to this problem.
Why choose Premium Bait Elastic:
- Multi-strand for added strength compared to its diameter
- Heavy to secure larger baits more securely
- 100m spool makes it great value for money
- Heavy is available in clear and red,
- Fine / Light and Medium available in clear
Size Guide:
Fine / Light – The 0.018mm grade of Fine Premium Bait Elastic has been specifically developed for attaching smaller, softer baits like shrimp, crab, lugworms, razors, mussel meat, and other shellfish, where the hook point can sometimes become overcrowded so fine elastic can be used to keep the hook point completely clear and bait still attached, offering improved hook ups.
Medium – When using small cut baits like anchovy, sardines, smelt, sandeel, crab, and larger shellfish like surf clams, we recommend using the 0.021mm Medium Premium Bait Elastic if casting distance isn't a top priority but you still need a great presentation with a softer bait and medium-range.
Heavy – For rigging bigger predator and shark baits like mackerel, bonito, croaker / whiting / drum, rays, surf perch, whole squid or other cut bait on a Pulley Rig, C-Rig or similar then you should use 0.042mm Heavy Premium Bait Elastic.
Big baits are notoriously difficult to deploy correctly, especially if they’re not properly attached, so the heavier diameter will help to reach the maximum distance whilst keeping the hooks in place with any size bait on setups like Pulley Rigs, C-Rigs and Shark Rigs with big sinkers.
